THE ICONIC SAINT-GERMAIN-DES-PRÉS-LA PONCHE BAR

Tuesday to Saturday
from 10:00 am to 12:30 am

From the first morning swim onwards, one settles in for a coffee, returns for aperitifs, and stays on through the night. The menu features a collection of signature cocktails paying tribute to the house's most devoted guests: the Tu Veux Ou Tu Veux Pas by Brigitte Bardot, La Joie De Vivre by Pablo Picasso, Le Goût Du Bonheur by Roger Vadim… American walnut panelling, a marble chequerboard floor, a wall of mirrors behind the bar, deep armchairs, an open fireplace, everything invites you to linger, to let the aperitif hour stretch well into the small hours.

The Story

For many years, Saint-Tropez was the summer outpost of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Boris Vian would often step behind the bar to serve Sartre, Sagan, Piccoli, and Deneuve.
The bar has reclaimed its original name, reviving the spirit of a circle of intellectuals who truly knew how to live. On the walls, the works of Jacques Cordier stand watch, preserving their legacy.

The Evenings

As the sun dips below the horizon, elegant guests gather at the bar, a romantic or festive prelude to the finest nights Saint-Tropez has to offer. Among the events that animate the season: the Saint-Germain evenings, where Nino, Martin and Angelo bring the Roaring Twenties back to life through the warm crackle of vinyl; and La Ponche Music Live, which invites musicians and velvet voices to perform in person. A nod to Boris Vian and the spirit of Saint-Germain-des-Prés-la Ponche, where so many artists once let the night stretch on until dawn. And each spring, the bar plays host to the Prix Littéraire La Ponche, now an unmissable fixture on the Saint-Tropez calendar.
