THE CRADLE OF PAINTERS
In the 19th century, an hour from Paris, Barbizon became the refuge of a new generation of painters. Corot, Millet, Courbet settled there in search of freedom and authentic landscapes. Here they captured the light and raw beauty of the Fontainebleau forest: the cradle of pre-impressionism.
A DREAMED-OF HOUSE
In 2020, Lionel Bensemoun turned La Folie Barbizon into an artists' residence, a laboratory of ideas where conviviality comes naturally. A house open to creatives from all corners of the world: artists, designers, musicians, and writers sharing the table, the forest, the inspiration.
THE METAMORPHOSIS

In 2023, Chapitre Six joined the adventure. La Folie Barbizon became a 4-star hotel with 21 rooms and 3 suites, without ever giving up its bohemian, artistic soul. A place apart, where every detail tells its own story.

THE TALE OF BARBIZON

Today, La Folie Barbizon carries on the legacy of yesterday's painters. Under the artistic direction of Sarah Valente and the interior architecture of Studio Marion Collard, some twenty artists have brought each room to life. A storybook hotel, on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest.
